Mysore with Janet and Assistants
Monday - Friday 5am- 7:30am
This is not a three-hour class! Students are given a start time and finish within the class timeslot. The latest start time is 6:30am and all students must be finished by 7:30am.

Mysore is the city in India where the founder of the Ashtanga method, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, lived and taught for many decades before his passing in 2009. His grandson, Sharath Jois, and Sharath's mother Saraswati, are carrying on the legacy at the Sri K.Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute.

To practise Mysore-style is to practise the Ashtanga yoga asana series by moving at the pace of your own breath. Students learn postures at a rate appropriate for the individual, receiving one-on-one instruction in the postures and hands-on adjustments from a teacher. This class is the best method for brand-new students as well as experienced Ashtanga practitioners that is offered in Calgary, Alberta.

Beginner Mysore - Wednesdays 6:30am
Are you interested in yoga?  Do you want to increase your vitality and peace of mind?  Unsure of where or how to get started? Intro to Mysore is the best place to start!  This class is taught by our highly trained teachers to give you all the information you need to get started. We will give you a simple and direct instructions and get you working yoga postures right away. Appropriate for the brand new student or students with yoga experience but not ashtanga.  Register today

 

 

Apprenticeship Program This Program offers a unique opportunity to develop your relationship with the teachers at AYC and hone your skills as a yoga teacher. The focus is on the "Mysore Style" class of the Ashtanga Yoga practice, where we will develop your skills and awareness of the whole student in guiding the practice. Apprentices will learn tools to maintain their own practice, study special topics, learn modification approaches and eventually integrate into the Mysore Class as an Assistant.

Applicants must have a yoga practice of 3-4 years, experience in the Mysore Style classes and an established relationship with the teachers at AYC to apply for this program. If you are interested in the Apprenticeship program and do not have these qualifications, please begin by practicing in our Mysore Program and after a year you can apply to the Apprenticeship Program.

Special arrangements can be made for students living outside of Calgary.

Primary Series with Ali
Sunday 8:30am- 10:00am

This class is a Led class taught by our most experienced teachers. Students move through the postures  of the Primary Series in unison, guided by the breath. Primary Series is also called Yoga Chikitsa and is known for its purifying and strengthening qualities. Some experience is recommended.  

Level 1
Tuesday 7pm - 8pm On hold while we re-structure

This class reinforces the basics of Ashtanga Yoga. If you are a new student, have taken a break from the practice, or want to polish your basics, this is the perfect place for you. This one hour will focus on the foundational elements of Ashtanga including basic breath work, Sun Salutations A & B, standing postures and some seated postures. We will practice simple relaxation and meditation techniques and learn a bit about the long history of yoga. Email to register for either of these classes.
